You Can’t Say I Don’t Have Moxy

I wrote out the message I wanted to read on a piece of scratch paper and nervously waited until the net controller called for general announcements.

“Buenos Dias!  This is Susan aboard Penelope.  I will be offering yoga class Monday through Friday at 9:00 am just left of the marina amphitheater.  Please bring a matt if you have one.  I have a couple extra I will have with me.  We will have beginning yoga on Monday, Wednesday and Friday and intermediate yoga on Tuesday and Thursday.  Please call Susan on Penelope, Channel 22, if you have any questions.”

I was a little concerned the marina office might come down on me for unauthorized yoga practice but I thought this was a case of better to ask forgiveness than permission.

Immediately following the net, the marina office called me.  To my surprise, they were extremely enthusiastic of offering yoga at this time.  Katrina told me she would make a flier and announce the class on the radio.  Yippee!  I’m in business.  This is such a great way for me to hone my skills so I can confidently present teaching experience on my resume.

I was afraid Peter would be annoyed I had committed myself Monday through Friday.  He was very encouraging, though.  He is very proud of my recent-self-preservation-about-face and he recognizes this as one more way for me to stay out of trouble in paradise.

Classes begin tomorrow.
